In this mock, the Bears make their first selection with the pick acquired by the Khalil Mack trade, which is no. 48 overall. At that spot, they get a Day 1 starter in a towering offensive lineman, Abraham Lucas out of Washington State. But, real quick, here’s how the Bears traded back from no. 39.

The trade gives the Bears five picks within the top 115 selections — something fans should be pretty excited about.

Now, back to Lucas, who would come in and start opposite of Teven Jenkins at the tackle position with Larry Borom being reverted to a reserve role.

Lucas is a huge man, standing 6-foot-7 and weighing in around 324 pounds. At his height, he is actually fairly athletic and can move well laterally. He’s excellent in pass blocking, with great hands that don’t let go easily. He’s a former basketball player, so the overall athletic profile is a lot to like.

In the run game, Lucas is as tough as they come. He displays that nastiness you like to see when finishing run blocks and would serve the Bears well in this scheme. The only major knock on Lucas is that he needs to add a bit more to his anchor. He’s a tall man, therefore he’s got to make sure his overall strength and weight match up with his tall frame.
