The Chicago Bears could sign free agent tight end Eric Ebron

The Bears’ current tight end situation is no where near solved. They are going to roll out Cole Kmet as the starter once again this year, in hopes that he finally takes the step forward everyone has been waiting for. With a new offense, it will be a crucial year for Kmet. It’s a do-or-die year, so to speak.

The Bears should definitely look at drafting a tight end to give Kmet a push. Otherwise, signing a veteran who is capable of stepping in should be their move. Eric Ebron is a perfect addition waiting to happen.

At just 28 years old, Ebron still has plenty of football left in him. He’s a former first-round pick who has flashed plenty over the years. Consistency has been the lacking trait, though. Whether it’s an injury here and there, or the occasional drop, Ebron hasn’t lived up to his first round billing. But, he’s still been a good tight end in this league for several years.

Ebron would offer Justin Fields a large, fast target at the tight end position. He’d be especially intriguing in the red zone and on third downs, or when plays break down and Fields needs to find somebody. Ebron would likely come cheap, as he’s now looking for his fourth team.
