5 free agent starters the Chicago Bears can still sign

The Chicago Bears could sign free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore
Another stud in the secondary, who remains unsigned, is former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore. The 31-year-old cornerback would again go against what Poles has been doing in free agency, trying to get younger. However, Gilmore’s presence would help this group immensely.
The Bears’ cornerback room essentially consists of Jaylon Johnson and Thomas Graham Jr. Other than those two, there’s nothing to remotely get excited about.
Plenty of teams have been in the rumors lately, connected to Gilmore, including the Las Vegas Raiders who have the Josh McDaniels connection from when Gilmore was in New England. Another recently-rumored team is the defending AFC Champions, the Cincinnati Bengals.
At his age, it’s highly unlikely that Gilmore would want to come to a rebuilding team. It’s also unlikely that the Bears would make this move, as he’d cost quite a bit with his pedigree. But, a rich deal over three years might be tough to refuse if Gilmore is looking to get paid.
There’s no telling where he’ll sign, but Gilmore’s coming to Chicago would greatly impact a guy like Johnson, taking pressure off his shoulders.
