In a whirlwind of a week, the Chicago Bears were actually one of the few teams who did not make a whole lot of notable moves in free agency.

As we saw the Bears’ most bitter divisional rival bid farewell to arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL, Davante Adams, it felt as though Chicago got better without lifting a finger.

It’s true, the Green Bay Packers still have Aaron Rodgers, and the Bears will have to add some talent if they want to do what former Packers — turned Bears — center Lucas Patrick is used to doing in that rivalry.

The coming season is not necessarily as much about winning as it is about preparing themselves for the future of this franchise. But, that means surrounding Justin Fields with weapons — specifically at the wide receiver position.

Even though many of the big names are off the board, the Chicago Bears can still add a big-name wide receiver.

At the moment, the Bears’ number one receiver is Darnell Mooney. And, make no mistake about it, Mooney very well could roll into the 2022 season as the Bears’ top option. Maybe, that’s the plan.

Chicago also signed a pair of wideouts in free agency, thus far, but more so as depth pieces. Former Packers wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown comes in as a probably fourth or fifth option. Meanwhile, former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Byron Pringle could be a strong third option for Fields.

The Bears will undoubtedly look to draft a receiver or two this year, but adding another veteran — and specifically a big name — still makes sense. But, which big names could the Bears look at acquiring? There are still three available, starting with one to be acquired via trade.
