The Chicago Cubs are officially out on most of their former core that helped them win the World Series in 2016. Javier Baez signed with the Detroit Tigers, Kyle Schwarber is with the Philadelphia Phillies, Anthony Rizzo is with the New York Yankees, and the fresh news is that Kris Bryant is with the Colorado Rockies.

Bryant is the best player in this group. He is going to thrive in 2022 with this Rockies team. They will have a tough time competing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and San Diego Padres in the NL West but you have to respect them for trying.

Bryant is on a seven-year deal worth 182 million dollars. That is a lot of money for a man who can play multiple positions. In 2021, he proved that he can play every position on the diamond besides pitcher and catcher. That will come in extremely handy for the Rockies.

He might go back to playing third base with Colorado as they are over a year removed from trading Nolan Arenado to the St. Louis Cardinals. The need is there. This is an incredible opportunity for him to play on a team with no expectations and elevate them.

Kris Bryant has a new home with the Rockies after a lot of years with the Cubs.

In 2021, the Rockies were one of the worst road teams in the league and one of the best home teams in the league. Their advantage at Coors Field is incredible. It is a hitters park that Bryant will love playing at. The ball soars there so expect him to hit lots of home runs and give his team a chance to win.

The Cubs are going to miss having a guy like this. He is one of the most talented players that they have ever had but it didn’t end the way that they wanted it to. The past is the past now and they will have plenty of opportunities to see him as he is staying in the National League.

Now that the 2016 World Series era is pretty much over, it is time for the organization to move on. We don’t know if they will ultimately rebuild or not but some of their recent moves suggest that trying to compete is on thier mind.

Whether they are able to or not remains to be seen but they are going to try. It was fun with Kris Bryant while it lasted but now he is on to his next chapter with the Colorado Rockies. It is fair to wish him well with his new team.
