Players the Chicago Bears could draft with Khalil Mack pick: CB Kyler Gordon, Washington

A huge pain point last year, for the Bears, was at cornerback. Their secondary was abysmal, outside of consistent play from Jaylon Johnson. Eddie Jackson was a mess. Kindle Vildor was a far cry from anything resembling an NFL starter. Tashaun Gipson was average on most days.

The secondary needs major help, and that’s why drafting Washington cornerback Kyler Gordon might be the way to go. At just under 6-feet tall, Gordon has average size for an NFL corner. But, he possesses incredible athleticism.

Gordon is strong in either man coverage or zone, but when he’s in zone, he relies heavily on his instincts and loves anticipating where the quarterback is going to go with the ball. Because of his high level of athleticism, Gordon is able to make jumps on the ball when he’s certain where it’s headed.

This is a guy the Bears could rely on in run support, too. He is a willing tackler, coming up to help out against the run game. This is a different feel from what we saw out of Bears defensive backs last year, that’s for sure.
