Predicting 5 key Chicago Bears moves after Khalil Mack trade
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears must sign cornerback J.C. Jackson
One of the top priorities this offseason has to be at cornerback. That’s an obvious, clear-as-day fact for this team.
Jaylon Johnson is a fine starter, but the Bears have nobody else to line up opposite of him. Thomas Graham Jr. proved that he might be the future as a slot cornerback, but in terms of an outside guy, the Bears cannot roll with Kindle Vildor once more.
The top available free agent cornerback is New England Patriots stud J.C. Jackson. The Patriots have made it pretty clear that they are going to let Jackson walk, and the Bears would be extremely wise to make him a top priority.
Poles did say that he’s going to be more focused on the second wave of free agency, but Jackson should be someone he still goes after. He is exactly what this defense needs. Jackson is a cornerback that still has several years in this league and is just entering his prime.
In four seasons, the 26-year-old Jackson has compiled 25 interceptions and a whopping 53 passes defensed. Last season, Jackson tallied his best overall season yet, with eight picks and 23 passes defensed.
