10 outstanding free agents for the Chicago Cubs to consider
There are some legit superstars for the Chicago Cubs to consider in free agency.
3. Freddie Freeman
Freddie Freeman was one of the key pieces to the Atlanta Braves winning the World Series in 2021. He was the MVP of the league in 2020 and now added that to his resume. He is one of the great players of his generation.
If the Braves don’t retain him in free agency, he would be perfect with the Chicago Cubs. Anthony Rizzo is gone and not coming back so Freeman would be a great first baseman for them. Frank Schwindel had a very nice 2021 season but don’t bank on that level of production again. Freeman should be of serious consideration as a result.
2. Trevor Story
There are a lot of reasons to want Trevor Story. He has been an MVP type of player with the Colorado Rockies up to this point. Now, he is looking for a new home and the Chicago Cubs would be a great fit.
Javier Baez is a Detroit Tigers player now and nobody would argue that Nico Hoerner deserves to be the shortstop more than Story if he decided to come to the Cubs. This is really something that would make their lineup so much better so they should consider it if they want to win.
1. Carlos Correa
The biggest free agent on the market is Carlos Correa. He has been one of the best players in Major League Baseball ever since he came in. The Houston Astros have had a ton of success with him in their lineup and now he is going to get a massive payday.
If the Cubs really want to add a significant shortest op to their group now that Baez is gone, Correa would be the number one guy. He would be their best player upon his arrival which makes him someone that they should take a good look at.
Baseball is back. The Chicago Cubs are going to be playing games at Wrigley Field with fans in attendance. It is all of a sudden a good time to be a baseball fan so it would be interesting to see the Cubs make a big-time move like this before it all starts.
