The Chicago Cubs could be in the market for literally anyone at this point.

6. Clayton Kershaw

The Chicago Cubs have faced Clayton Kershaw a bunch in his career. He is probably the most dominant pitcher of his era and will go down as one of the best to ever do it at that position. He will be in the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.

If the Cubs added a guy like that, it would certainly add a lot more interest to their team as they try to come back from the disaster that was the 2021 season. Kershaw isn’t quite on that level anymore but he is still an incredibly effective pitcher.

5. Carlos Rodon

The Chicago White Sox saw Carlos Rodon have an incredible season for them in 2021. They gave him a chance to win the job as the fifth starter and he ran with it. In fact, he was the fifth-place finisher for the AL Cy Young because he was so awesome. Now, he is finally going to get paid.

If the White Sox actually do stay away from him, the Cubs would be the next best option for him. He wouldn’t have to leave town which would certainly be nice for him and his family. Adding a pitcher like this would be great for the Cubs going into this season.

4. Kyle Schwarber

The Chicago Cubs chose Joc Pederson over Kyle Schwarber in 2021. Joc was okay but he was nothing like Schwarber who was an all-star with the Washington Nationals in the first half of the season.

The Nats were going nowhere so they collected assets from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Schwarber who helped them all the way to the ALCS. Now that there is a DH in the National League, he makes even more sense for the Cubs in a return.
