The Chicago Bears should spend big on free agent safety Quandre Diggs

One position the Bears haven’t been willing to spend big on during free agency over the last few years is at safety. Part of the reason is because of the money they have tied up in Eddie Jackson, but the best-available safety this year is Quandre Diggs and he’d be worth a look.

Diggs is a former cornerback who is extremely versatile. He’s a guy who is the ball hawking type, but at the same time, isn’t afraid to get physical in run support. He’s kind of a do-it-all type at the safety position.

For the past five years straight, Diggs has come up with at least three interceptions. Four out of the last five seasons, he’s had at least seven passes defensed, too. The last two seasons for Diggs have been his best, though, since making the full-time switch to safety.

He’s been named to the Pro Bowl for the past two years, which is impressive considering the Seahawks’ struggles. It’s typically difficult to get many Pro Bowl votes on a team that’s not towards the top of the league, but Diggs has been able to do it.

Chicago needs a starter next to Jackson, and Diggs would give this secondary a huge lift.
