The Chicago Bears should spend big on free agent guard Brandon Scherff

The other offensive lineman the Bears should spend big on is Brandon Scherff. He is maybe the only free agent the Bears could walk up to, and offer a blank check, with everyone in the building being completely fine with it — yes, even Poles.

Scherff is the perfect guy for Chicago to go after. He’s a nasty, physical and imposing guard who plays especially well in a zone scheme and is a former All Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection. This guy is the real deal, and might be the best guard in football not named Quenton Nelson.

Like Jensen, Scherff is also 30 years old. He will be looking to cash in for possibly the last time in his career, and it might as well be with the Bears.

Think of it this way: the Bears could keep Whitehair around and sign Scherff. At that point, they only need to find one more starting offensive lineman.

Immediately, this group becomes somewhat of a strength, depending on how Teven Jenkins and Larry Borom take steps this second season of theirs.
