The Chicago Bears should spend big on free agent center Ryan Jensen

As a former offensive lineman himself, if there was any position Ryan Poles would spend big on it has to be offensive line, right?

What better type of guy to go sign than someone who is a Super Bowl champion, having played with and protected the greatest quarterback of all-time, Tom Brady. Tampa Bay Buccaneers free agent center Ryan Jensen is a clear target for the Bears, who need a lot of help up front.

One of the questions that the Bears will soon answer is whether or not they will keep Cody Whitehair around. If they keep him, then Whitehair could stay at guard for another year rather than switching back and forth like he’s done for much of his career.

That would give Jensen a clear path to come in at center, where he’s comfortable. The 2021 Pro Bowl selection is 30 years old and likely looking at his last big contract.

If the Bears are going to spend big on any offensive lineman, Jensen is one of the few they should have no problem doing so with. He has played in every single game over the last five seasons, so the Bears know they’re getting a guy with an excellent recent health history.
