This pick, right here, might end up being the steal of the draft for the Bears. Notre Dame wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. wouldn’t have to travel far from his college home to join the Bears, and he’d give Chicago yet another weapon for Fields to work with.

Picturing Olave, Mooney and Austin as the team’s top three wide receivers is quite the thought.

Austin is a big-bodied, strong receiver who also ran a whole lot faster than some anticipated at the Combine. At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Austin ran a 4.43 in his 40-yard dash. He also notched a 39-inch vertical and a 132-inch broad jump, showing off some well-rounded athleticism to go with his big, strong frame.

This is a guy who can track deep balls and gives Fields a big target to work with. He’s got the size to be a solid blocker down the line, too.

Last season, Austin caught 48 passes for 888 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging a potent 18.5 yards per reception — which just right around his career average, actually. Austin is always up for the big play, which fits perfectly with Fields who loves to go deep.
