After watching Chris Olave show off his speed at the Combine and hear that he would love to reunite with Justin Fields in Chicago, the Bears make it a reality in the first round. Chicago strikes a deal with the Arizona Cardinals by sending their no. 39 overall pick and a second-round selection next year in exchange for the 23rd overall pick in this year’s draft.

With that pick, Olave comes to the Bears.

This answers the Bears’ questions at receiver, along with whatever moves they made in free  agency prior to landing Olave. They get a true number one threat to pair with Darnell Mooney, and Fields doesn’t even have to get to know Olave’s tendencies. They already know each other well.

This is a move that makes the Bears better, sure, but for multiple reasons. Obviously Olave is a talented kid, but this move makes Fields the happiest man on earth. He gets his college wideout back and will go right to work with a guy he knows well.

Olave ran an unofficial 4.26 in his 40-yard dash at the Combine, which was oddly later changed to a 4.39. Still, the speed was evident on tape. He is extremely fast and runs excellent routes. The Bears are in great shape after pulling off this shocker in the first round, and move on to Round 3.
