Wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. proved why the Chicago Bears should draft him at the 2022 NFL Combine

At first glance, looking towards Kevin Austin’s direction at the Combine, one might have thought they were looking at the brother of D.K. Metcalf. That’s how big, strong and cut Austin looked at the Combine.

For a couple of months now, Austin has been mocked anywhere from the 5th round to the 7th round. However, after his Combine performance, he’ll have no problem getting drafted between the third and sixth rounds now.

At 6-foot-2 and weighing 200 pounds, Austin ran a 4.42 in his 40-yard dash while also posting a 39-inch vertical leap. As for his broad jump, it measured exactly 11 feet.

Austin is a true outside receiver with the size and strength to bully cornerbacks. He’s got great ball-tracking ability and uses his body to get in position for difficult grabs. Last year at Notre Dame, Austin caught 48 passes for 888 yards and seven touchdowns with mostly average quarterback play from Jack Coan.

At the NFL level, Austin would benefit greatly from a quarterback like Justin Fields, who can extend plays and get the ball to his big targets.
