Trade Number 2 for the Chicago Bears to land Amari Cooper
If the Cowboys are wanting to cut ties with Cooper, maybe the Bears could pair a pick with a player whom they might not see as a fit in their defense. Danny Trevathan has been somewhat of a liability over the last couple of years, but would be a minor upgrade from the guys Dallas is losing to free agency this offseason.
The Cowboys run more of a 3-4 defense under Dan Quinn and Trevathan could plug right in as a starter. The Bears are switching to a 4-3 scheme under Matt Eberflus and Alan Williams, and Trevathan doesn’t exactly fit the mold.
The Bears could also choose to cut Trevathan if they don’t find a trade partner for him, and technically he would be a free agent after this coming season if he was kept or traded. The Cowboys getting a serviceable player in return is nice, but also getting a fifth rounder will be attractive.
It’s hard to imagine another team offering a player and pick for Cooper, but this would help both sides.
