2. Darnell Mooney

The Chicago Bears need to see Darnell Mooney be a big part of things in 2022.

The Chicago Bears are in desperate need of wide receiver help. As mentioned before, Justin Fields needs people to throw to that can make a difference in the game. With the likely departure of Allen Robinson, they don’t have a number one receiver type of guy.

If they went into the season as is, Darnell Mooney would probably line up as the number one. As good as Mooney has been, that would be an absolute disaster. You would see a major change in his production if he was put in that role.

The defenses would completely change the coverage against him without an elite threat on the other side. Despite the lack of targets in 2021, the defense still feared Robinson more because he is a better player. Without that guy on the other side of the ball, Mooney would suffer.

If you put someone like Amari Cooper in place of Robinson, Mooney would then still be the number two receiver and be equally as productive as he has been. He has developed clear chemistry with Justin Fields already and would be able to continue that.

Mooney would probably admit that someone like Cooper coming to the team would certainly help his game. He would face the second-best coverage on the defense as the best players would cover Cooper. Mooney is a very important piece of the Bears puzzle so helping him is important too.
