Finally, in round five, the Bears decide to go defense. Now, before the fans decide to freak out about ignoring defense until now, remember this mock is all about Fields. The one assumption made, here, is that Poles already went out and signed another corner and possibly a defensive lineman and linebacker.

With pick no. 144, the Bears draft Nebraska cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt. One of the best things that can be said about Taylor-Britt is that he is strong and possesses quick feet. He has experience at both cornerback and safety, which could lead to the Bears trying him out at strong safety or even in the slot. The flexibility is something Eberflus will love with this kid.

Taylor-Britt also has nice ball skills, coming up with 11 passes defensed last year. The area he’ll get himself in trouble is when he takes bad angles in coverage. For this reason, he’s not going to be a sure fire outside corner who can cover well. He’s best suited in a zone scheme, which the Bears could run much of the time under Eberflus.

The bad angles, at times, can also be due to Britt not wanting to waste any time. He’ll start tracking, sometimes, but not necessarily with the right angle in mind. If Eberflus threw him in the slot, Britt could do some damage.
