With that other pick from Denver, the Bears select Oklahoma guard Marquis Hayes at no. 111 overall. Hayes would slide right in next to Parham and become the Bears’ other starting guard, giving them a much better outlook up front than they had before the draft.

Hayes stands nearly 6-foot-5, weighing in around 325 pounds and presents the Bears with a mammoth in the middle. He is a big boy, and it shows with one of his best traits being pure, natural power.

When you watch Hayes play, you can see he definitely has somewhat of a nasty attitude. Obviously, Poles made it very clear in one of his initial interviews that he wasn’t pleased with the offensive line last year and even singled out the one instance where Fields hit the ground and only one lineman went over to help him out.

Hayes has the physical, finishing demeanor that you want to see out of a lineman. He looks to pound his opposing man to the ground whenever he gets the chance.

The one area he will have to improve is in his athleticism and overall mobility. Hayes needs to try and get lower with more consistency so that he’s not knocked off his base. But, if he improves just a little bit here, he’ll be a well-rounded starter in this league for a while.
