March is upon us, and it is finally time to get ready for the 2022 NFL Combine. For the Chicago Bears, it’s an exciting week full of optimism as the organization participates under new leadership.

In his first year as Bears general manager, Ryan Poles goes in with a fresh philosophy and a desire to build mostly through the draft as he looks to surround quarterback Justin Fields with as much talent as possible.

This year’s Combine begins today, as players arrive and take their measurements while the real action starts on Thursday.

This year’s Combine is an exciting one, as we haven’t seen a true NFL Combine since 2019 where players, coaches and executives could all be there in person without many limitations. One of the positions in which Bears fans will be watching closely? Wide receiver.

The Chicago Bears have to add explosive, proven talent at the wide receiver position, and the 2022 NFL Combine features plenty.

The Bears’ current depth at wide receiver isn’t much, as it’s essentially the Darnell Mooney show. Aside from Mooney, the Bears have last year’s sixth-round pick Dazz Newsome under contract.

But, other than those two, it’s a bare cabinet. They need plenty of help, here.

Fans love watching the Combine for a variety of reasons, but one of the favorite sets of drills is without a doubt the receiver portion. Whether it’s wondering if we’ll see a history-making 40 time, a vertical leap that catches us off guard or how this year’s prospects look catching the football, this is a fun group each year.

The 2022 class is full of talent, but the Bears need specific players who can make big plays in several ways. Chicago could use speed and a large catch radius on the outside, and shiftiness with yards-after-the-catch potential in the slot.

Five specific receivers should stand out to Bears fans this week, especially considering their current draft capital.
