There are plenty of ways for the Chicago Cubs to land Juan Soto if he is available.

The Chicago Cubs landing someone like Juan Soto is next to impossible. No team in the league, at this moment, actually thinks they can get him right now. However, if he does become available and that information is public knowledge, the Cubs will do what they can to try.

During the 2021 regular season, the Cubs acquired Nick Madrigal from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Craig Kimbrel. If they wanted someone like Soto, he might have to go before he ever even got comfortable with his new team. He is a great contact hitter that can make an impact with his ability to slap base hits regularly.

Like Ed Howard, Christian Hernandez is a top prospect that plays shortstop. The fact that they have both of them could make one of them expendable if they needed to make a big trade. Baez is gone and Hoerner’s future is uncertain so it will be interesting to see what happens at that position on the north side. It won’t matter if Soto is available.

Jordan Wicks and Kohl Franklin are each top-10 Cubs prospects that hope to take the mound for them someday. Wicks is a lefty and Franklin is a righty so there is some balance between the two of them. They are each projected to reach the MLB in 2023 which fits Washington’s timeline perfectly. It is definitely an interesting deal to think about.
