The Chicago Cubs have some big decisions to make over the next year or so. They already traded away stars like Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Javier Baez. With Willson Contreras set to expire after the 2022 season, more big moves should be made soon.

The Cubs haven’t really been clear about their direction so it will be interesting to see what route they take beyond this season. They probably can’t be better than the Milwaukee Brewers or St. Louis Cardinals in 2022 but it is possible for contention in the years that follow if they are smart.

There are some players that you go for regardless of what stage of your rebuild you are in. Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals is one of those players for any team in the league. He is one of the five best players in the sport right now.

A couple of weeks ago, it became known that he denied a 13-year deal worth 350 million dollars. It is a smart move on his part because it is so obvious that he could get more one day and he might want it to come with a different team as a result of the Nationals state as an organization.

The Chicago Cubs are a team that could be good or bad in the coming years.

There are still a few more years before they really have to figure that part out in Washington but it is a very notable report. You can’t help but wonder if he becomes available one day as a result of never signing a deal.
