The Chicago Blackhawks expected to play a fast and skilled game against the New Jersey Devils on Friday night. With Kevin Lankinen and John Gillies in net for both sides, you were able to go in thinking there would be a lot of goals. There was.

Chicago prevailed with an 8-5  win. There is a lot of skill amongst the two forward groups on these two teams. Each team also has a couple of defensemen that can move the puck well and help create offense. That was all on full display in this game.

The Devils saw some of thier players have awesome games. Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt were each outstanding as they combined for five points in the game. This team is going to be very good if these guys continue to develop at this pace.

It wasn’t enough in this one, however, as the Hawks were able to pull out a win on home ice. Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Seth Jones, and Brandon Hagel all had huge games which allowed the Hawks to get their victory.

Jones and DeBrincat each had three assists but most of the goal-scoring came from Hagel and Kane. Each of them went into the final two minutes of the game with two goals apiece. They both remarkably hit an empty net to secure a hat trick.

Patrick Kane and Brandon Hagel were outstanding in the Chicago Blackhawks win.

A double hat trick is pretty rare and it is very hard to lose a game where you get one. It was a very good game in terms of entertainment and the Hawks were able to be the victor. Neither team is going to the playoffs but they each have solid pieces to build around.

One thing that was incredibly notable about the game is the play from the American-born players on both sides that have a chance at an Olympic or World Cup roster. Hughes, Kane, Jones, and DeBrincat all combined for 10 points. Team USA has a lot to look forward to and these guys are a big reason for it.

The Hawks are going to try and keep the home cooking going as this win over the Devils snapped a three-game losing streak and they were all at the United Center. They play four of their next five games there too and it starts with the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.

That is going to be a day game against a very good team. The Blues present a much tougher challenge in terms of a team game so the Hawks will need their best. You can expect that Marc-Andre Fleury will be in the net for this one. It is another very good matchup for the home fans in Chicago.
