Odell Beckham Jr

The Chicago Bears will need to add a playmaker at the wide receiver position this offseason and it could be Odell Beckham Jr.

One of the weakest position groups that the Chicago Bears have on their roster entering the offseason is the wide receiver position group. Wide receiver Allen Robinson is expected to part ways with the team once free agency begins and that would leave Darnell Mooney and second-year wide receiver Dazz Newsome as the only certainties that the Bears have at the wide receiver position once free agency starts.

Mooney did establish a connection with quarterback Justin Fields last season as the wide receiver compiled 1,055 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. There is no question that Mooney took a step forward with his development in 2021 but questions still remain if he can be a primary wide receiver in the NFL.

If the Bears do decide that they want to add a primary wide receiver this offseason, then the team should look at veteran Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham suffered a torn ACL during the Rams’ Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals but is expected to be ready near the start of the 2022 regular season. When healthy with the Rams last season, Beckham proved that he is still capable of being a playmaker and proved that in the Super Bowl prior to this injury as he had 52 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on 2 receptions before leaving the game.
