A.J. Green

A.J. Green proved during the 2021 season that he could still help the Chicago Bears.

The reason why Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields developed a rapport with wide receiver Darnell Mooney during the 2021 season is that Mooney is the type of receiver that works well with the strengths that Fields has as a quarterback.

Mooney has developed into an above-average route-runner as he routinely created separation between him and opposing cornerbacks last season and that created a perfect window for Fields to throw in.

In addition, Mooney was the only deep-threat the Bears had last season and that blends well with Fields as the quarterback often looks to make plays downfield. That is the type of wide receiver that the Bears will need to target ahead of the 2022 NFL regular season.

One player that the Bears should take a look at is veteran wide receiver A.J. Green. After missing the 2019 season with an ankle injury and having a down year with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020, Green attempted to restore his value with the Arizona Cardinals last season.

The move worked for Green as he had 848 receiving yards and his yards per reception of 15.7 was the second-highest of his career. Green is now a free agent and the Bears would be wise to target the veteran wide receiver as he possesses the exact skillset that would pair well with Fields.
