Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Chicago Bears’ OC Luke Getsy has a connection to Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

All eyes will be on the Green Bay Packers this off-season as the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be decided. After the Packers were eliminated from the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers during the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, Rodgers told reporters that he plans on making a decision before the start of free agency in March.

Recent rumors have suggested that the Denver Broncos will be making a push to trade for Rodgers this offseason. If a trade is completed, the outlook of the Packers will change. Change in the sense that the Packers will likely be entering a transition period.

If the Packers do in fact enter a transition phase, chances are that many of the team’s free agents will look to sign elsewhere this offseason. One of those free agents is wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

If it wasn’t for missing six games last season, Valdes-Scantling would have had a career year with the Packers. In 11 games played last season, Valdes-Scantling compiled 430 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns on 26 receptions.

With new Bears’ offensive coordinator Luke Getsy formerly serving as an offensive coach under Matt LaFleur with the Packers last season, it stands to reason that the Bears may target Valdes-Scantling once free agency begins in March.
