3 free agents that would help Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields
Dalton Schultz
If the Chicago Bears are looking to move on from Cole Kmet as their primary tight end, free agent tight end Dalton Schultz would be an intriguing target.
While Cole Kmet did take a step forward during the 2021 season for the Chicago Bears, there is no question that the tight end still remains a question mark for the Bears. Kmet compiled 612 receiving yards last season, however, the second-year tight end failed to reach the end zone for the Bears. In addition to the lack of offensive touchdowns from Kmet last season, the second-year tight end also had 5 drops.
The Bears do not have to make a decision on Kmet yet but likely will need to decide if they want to enter the 2022 season with the Notre Dame product as their primary tight end option.
With it also being likely that Jimmy Graham will not be returning to the team next season, the Bears would be wise to target a tight end that is capable of being a threat in the end-zone.
That tight end for the Bears should be free agent Dalton Schultz. Schultz, over the course of the past two seasons, has developed into a legitimate offensive threat for the Dallas Cowboys and is set to be among the top free agent tight ends this offseason. Schultz had 8 touchdowns for the Cowboys last season and would be an ideal target for Fields as the tight end could act as a safety net for the second-year quarterback.
