The Chicago Bears should really try to bring Akiem Hicks back into the mix.

Akiem Hicks has been one of the best and most important players on the Chicago Bears for the past few seasons. Khalil Mack was often known for being the best player on the team because of his reputation in Oakland but Hicks might have been just as good.

It is hard to see that level of production continue throughout the next few years but he is still a very disruptive pass rusher. With Mack and Robert Quinn having as much success as they had in 2021, keeping Hicks around in 2022 would make them all even better.

The one issue with Hicks is his injury history. He has had a tough time staying on the field for long stretches but when he is out there he is one of the best. If the Bears let him go, he is going to make another team very happy.

We don’t know if Hicks has a problem with the Bears or the city of Chicago. He didn’t seem to be very happy towards the end but that could just be a fatigue factor as it wasn’t much fun to play here in the second half of Matt Nagy’s tenure. With a new set of people running the show, he might consider a return.
