3 free agents that fit the new Chicago Bears defense
By Ryan Heckman
Cornerback J.C. Jackson would be a perfect fit for the Chicago Bears defense
Lastly, yet another position group that will see a shakeup is at cornerback. The only sure thing the Bears have among this group is Jaylon Johnson, but he can’t do it all by himself. The cornerback room, aside from Johnson, was atrocious last year.
The Bears saw one of the worst overall performances by a cornerback, in all of football, come from their own locker room. Kindle Vildor was absolutely horrific starting opposite of Johnson.
For that reason, a home run signing like J.C. Jackson would be a welcomed sight for Bears fans.
Quite frankly, J.C. Jackson would fit any defense. The guy has been one of the best corners in football over the past few seasons. He’s going to command quite the contract, but with the fluctuating type of spending the Patriots have shown over the years, who knows if they’ll bring him back.
In four seasons, Jackson has 25 interceptions — 17 of them in the past two years alone. The guy is a true ball hawk, which the Bears could use desperately right now. This past season, Jackson also tallied 23 passes defensed — an astronomical number. He’s got 53 for his career.
Should the Bears want to go all-in on a defensive free agent, Jackson would be the one to do it with.
