The Chicago Blackhawks could get some really nice assets for Alex DeBrincat.

Of course, a first-round pick is going back to Chicago if they move Alex DeBrincat. He warranted that level of draft capital because of the fact that he is an elite goal scorer. For a team like Edmonton who is desperate to make Connor McDavid happy, they should hand it over without thinking about it.

They would also probably land another draft pick as well. In this case, a 2022 seventh-round pick would be the one in the proposed trade package. Those picks could be diamonds in the rough if you do your research as a scout. That would be on the Hawks. It is basically a free lottery ticket handed over.

The real kicker in this trade is Evan Bouchard. Edmonton took him with the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. A few picks prior, Chicago took Adam Boqvist which was a horrid decision. There were many good players that were better both at the time and right now. Bouchard is one of them.

This would be an opportunity for Chicago to make up for that bad decision. It would be really hard for Edmonton to give him up based on how his 2021 season has gone. However, DeBrincat probably helps them take advantage of their strengths in the present-day more than Bouchard. The Hawks would take this in a heartbeat but Edmonton would actually have to think about it.
