The Blackhawks might just want draft picks in exchange for Alex DeBrincat.

Alex DeBrincat is an outstanding player. He, as mentioned before, is one of the best finishers in the National Hockey League. Since the beginning of his rookie year, few players have scored more total goals. Putting him with someone like McDavid might turn him into a top three most productive sniper in the league.

That possibility alone might make the Edmonton Oilers do what they have to do to acquire him. If that means giving up three draft picks over the next two drafts, the Oilers have to do it. They need McDavid and Daisaitl centering the top two lines. Adding another elite winger like DeBrincat would go a long way.

Evander Kane, Jesse Puljujarvi, and Kailer Yamamoto are very good players but none of them are DeBrincat. It would be one of the most entertaining top six groups in the league if he went there. Giving up a first and fourth in 2022 and a 2023 second would be a wise move.

If McDavid had Draisaitl and DeBrincat on each wall on the power play, that would take one of the league’s best power-play units and make them even better. It would certainly be cool to see from a pure hockey perspective but Edmonton should really consider it if they want to make the playoffs.
