Chicago Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu is deserving of an All NBA Rookie Team honor

Towards the beginning of the season, Ayo Dosunmu was forced into action while Coby White continued to work his way back from injury. If the Bulls had planned to bring Dosunmu on at a lighter pace, that plan was squashed very early.

From the get-go, Dosunmu has proven he is much better than where the Bulls drafted him at no. 38 overall. This hometown kid has been unafraid of any moment and is more than willing to take the big shot or step into a dire defensive role late in games.

While Dosunmu isn’t playing as many minutes as a lot of rookies around the league, his impact has been tremendous. His impact has been so big lately that he has risen to no. 7 in the latest NBA Rookie Ladder rankings — not too shabby for a guy selected 38th overall.

Dosunmu may not be named to the First Team, but he should certainly be given the honor of making the All Rookie Second Team if the awards were handed out mid-season.

In 46 games, Dosunmu is averaging 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He’s also shooting a blistering 43.2 percent from three.
