What an incredible first half of the season. We’re now just a bit past the halfway point and the Chicago Bulls are still a first place team in the Eastern Conference.

Chicago basketball has come a long way in just one year, thanks to the effort from a brand-new front office who has taken an aggressive approach.

There are many reasons why the Bulls have taken such a leap this season, and maybe none more key to success than head coach Billy Donovan. Under his leadership, this team is completely bought into the system. He’s got their back, and they have his. It’s been a beautiful thing to witness.

Donovan looks to be gunning for an NBA Coach of the Year award this season, especially considering how well his team has done in the midst of several players out with injury woes. But, beyond a potential Coach of the Year award, the Bulls could see a few more honors handed out.

This Chicago Bulls team is special, and we could see multiple honors and awards handed out to these players at season’s end.

Though we still have another half a season to play, the Bulls look as though they could see a few players earn big-time honors. If the season ended today, the Bulls would absolutely be in the discussion for a few key awards.

Of course, Donovan should be in line for the prestigious coach’s award. But, beyond Donovan, the Bulls have many guys playing many roles — roles which could earn them a place in NBA history at the end of the season.

Above any All Star nomination or Rising Stars nod, the Bulls have some serious competitors who are changing Chicago basketball and impacting this team in a big way. Three specific guys are deserving of notable awards at this stage in the season.
