The past week has been a whirlwind for the Chicago Bears, but in a positive way. It began when the team decided to bring in new general manager, Ryan Poles, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bears followed that up quickly with a few more moves, none bigger than hiring former Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus to be their new head coach.

Eberflus’ hiring was met with different opinions across the Bears fan base, and any negative comment came due to the fact that some didn’t like the team hiring a defensive-minded head coach. After all, it’s about developing Justin Fields right now. That’s the priority.

However, Poles had a plan when he brought in former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy as their offensive coordinator.

Luke Getsy will run a Shanahan-style offense for the Chicago Bears, in which he could bring some Packers free agents to help them along.

Getsy was the right man for the job, and was Eberflus’ top pick all along, according to some rumors. The reason? He runs a Shanahan-style offense — which is perfect for Fields.

Scheming playmakers open and getting them the ball in various, creative ways while continuing to focus on the run game is going to benefit Fields greatly.

What might benefit him, also, is if the Bears are able to bring in some former Packers who enter this offseason as free agents. Green Bay has a few key offensive free agents which would look great in the navy and orange, starting with a big man up front.
