3 free agents connected to new Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles

Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles could pursue safety Tyrann Mathieu in free agency
The heart and soul of the Chiefs defense the past couple of seasons has been established by two guys, primarily. Chris Jones and Tyrann Mathieu are the heartbeat of this crew. Mathieu will be a free agent after this season and becomes an important name to watch for Kansas City.
The 3-time All Pro and 3-time Pro Bowl selection is also 29 years old and could be in line for one more decent-sized contract.
The Bears’ situation at safety has not been pretty over the past few seasons, as Eddie Jackson has completely fallen off and the team has used some veteran journeymen next to him.
Mathieu is a good enough player where he could play next to Jackson if need be. He’s definitely a physical guy and looking to make the big play when possible. His play could even potentially help elevate Jackson back up to a more consistent level, too.
Mathieu would be one of the more expensive options for the Bears in this year’s free agent pool, but creating takeaways and big plays should be a priority — and Mathieu can do just that.
