10 offseason moves Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears should make

2. The Chicago Bears should throw all the money at Chris Godwin
This year’s free agent crop of wide receivers is pretty loaded. Obviously, Davante Adams is the grand prize, here. But, the most interesting name of the group now becomes Chris Godwin.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a decision to make. Do they try and bring him back, even though they’re paying Mike Evans top dollar? The biggest question is what kind of money Godwin will demand after suffering a torn ACL.
The Bears know a thing or two about signing a receiver coming off that injury, because that’s exactly what happened when they signed Allen Robinson.
Bringing in Godwin would be a masterful move by the Bears. Darnell Mooney is the deeper threat who can work pretty much any area of the field. But, Godwin is that sure-handed security blanket who runs some of the best routes in the NFL.
People may not realize just how good he is due to the offense he’s played in for the past two years. But, Godwin is absolutely a top-20 receiver in this league. If the Bears took a chance on offering a stable, multi-year deal, it could pay off big time.
