Brian Flores

Brian Flores has already interviewed for the Chicago Bears opening once, and with Ryan Poles now in place as general manager, a second interview should definitely be scheduled.

Of all the candidates that the Chicago Bears have interviewed, former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores may be the candidate with the most recent success in the NFL. While Jim Caldwell has two playoff berths with the Detroit Lions on his resume; and Dan Quinn has a super bowl appearance with the Atlanta Falcons, Flores is a head coach that has compiled 19 victories with the Dolphins’ over the past two seasons and a 4-2 record against the New England Patriots.

Given the success that Flores had with the Dolphins, it was surprise to many that he was fired once the regular season concluded. Since the firing, there have been reports that Flores was at odds with Dolphin’ manager Chris Grier. With Grier and Flores at odds, Dolphins’ owner Stephen Ross ultimately decided to keep the general manager and search for a new head coach.

The Bears have already completed one interview. After the interview, reports suggested that the Bears came away from the interview with Flores impressed. The Bears being impressed with Flores would seemingly indicate that the team was satisfied with Flores’ explanation of what went wrong in Miami.

A positive is that Flores already has a relationship with new Bears’ general manager Ryan Poles. Flores and Poles are connected as they are both alums of Boston College. While the two never played together, they have established a professional relationship already and communicate regularly.
