Jonathan Toews will always be the best captain in Chicago Blackhawks history.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been through it all with Jonathan Toews. He was named to be the captain very early in his career and became one of the best players in team history. During his time as captain, they had a lot of success which includes winning the Stanley Cup three times.

For one of those Cups, Toews won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs. It has been a tremendous career for Toews and he will be in the Hall of Fame one day. His two-way game was as good as any player ever.

He is one of the best captains in NHL history as well. He was as good of a leader as he was a player which is saying something. Chicago might not be his last NHL stop at this point but they will retire his number whenever he does call it quits.

It would be nice to see the team figure it out and win with him still there, even if he needs another contract. We don’t know for sure what will happen at the end of the 2022-23 season but it will be a big topic of conversation in Chicago leading up to it. The day that Toews’ legendary number 19 goes up, however, will be a very special day in this city’s history.
