The Chicago Blackhawks have won four hockey games in a row. They are still well out of a playoff spot but there is a glimmer of hope with the way that they have been playing. The biggest reason for this awesome play is Marc-Andre Fleury who is still one of the best goalies in the NHL.

Fleury won the Vezina Trophy last year with the Vegas Golden Knights but the Chicago Blackhawks haven’t played nearly as good in front of him as his old team. However, for this one week, both Fleury and his team were good enough for him to be named the NHL’s second star of the week.

In the three games that Fleury played for Chicago this week, he won them all. He also had a 1.32 goals-against average, a .957 save percentage (88 of 92 shots were saved), and one shutout. It was as good of a stretch as a goalie can have over four games these days.

As bad as the Hawks have been this season, it is hardly Fleury’s fault. He has a 2.73 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage on the season. He has a record of 13-11-2 which isn’t the best but as mentioned before, the Blackhawks are a bad hockey team.

Marc-Andre Fleury is one of the best goalies in the history of the NHL.

Fleury has never missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs in any of his NHL years split between the Vegas Golden Knights and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Blackhawks are probably not going to make it to the playoffs this year so it will be interesting to see if they trade him (he is on an expiring contract) to a team that is going to the playoffs.

Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins was the first star of the week and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning was the third star of the week. Blackhawks fans are used to having their players named amongst the league’s best and this is another example of it.

Fleury is one of the NHL’s all-time greatest players. He is going to be in the Hall of Fame one day so seeing him play this well in Chicago is special. He deserves all of the accolades that he is getting and has gotten because he has been so good for so long.

Hopefully, whether it is with the Blackhawks or not, the season ends in the postseason for Marc-Andre Fleury. If that happens, it will continue that incredible streak but it will also give a great person a chance to go out on top.
