1. The Chicago Bulls should wait and see if Robert Covington is bought out

The Portland Trailblazers are going no where, and with an injured Damian Lillard, could be headed towards tank mode. After having surgery on an abdominal injury, Lillard will be re-evaluated in about six weeks.

When he is finally re-evaluated, the Blazers could be looking at a last-place record in the West. At this point, Portland could end up buying out one or two of their guys. Both Robert Covington and Larry Nance Jr. are candidates for a buyout, although Covington might be a better option for what the Bulls need.

Covington is also a guy who can guard multiple positions, and guard them very well. He’s always been known for his defense and rebounding ability at the forward position, and his energy and tenacity would fit right in with what the Bulls want to do defensively.

This season, Covington is averaging the fewest points he’s averaged since his rookie year at just 7.5 per game. The Blazers wouldn’t be losing much if they cut ties, but the Bulls would be gaining quite a bit. This would be an excellent move for Chicago, and quite frankly, any one of these three mentioned would put the Bulls over the top.
