Chicago Bears coach and general manager search already getting intense
By Ryan Heckman
The first three head coaching interview requests for the Chicago Bears
Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier
The Bills had the NFL’s top scoring defense, allowing just 17.0 points per game this past season under Leslie Frazier. They also had the league’s stingiest pass defense, by far, allowing only 163.0 passing yards per game. Frazier has past head coaching experience with the Minnesota Vikings and is a former Bears defensive back, so he knows the city well.
In addition to coaching the Bills defense, Frazier has recently worked with the Baltimore Ravens secondary (2016) and also served as the Bucs’ defensive coordinator from 2014-2015.
Former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson
Doug Pederson won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles just a few years ago, and Bears fans know this well, especially after the team traded for Nick Foles, who won that ring as the Eagles’ starting quarterback.
Pederson’s offense is a creative one, which gets lots of players involved and uses a variety of running backs. That Super Bowl season saw Philadelphia boast the league’s second-best offense, scoring 28.6 points per game.
Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll
This is one of the fan favorites over the past year, in terms of who Bears fans have wanted to see replace Nagy. Brian Daboll is solely responsible for developing Josh Allen into the player he is now.
Buffalo’s offense took a step back in 2021, but still showed lots of firepower. Allen is a big, strong and agile quarterback like Fields. Daboll would be an interesting hire for this offensive group.
