1. Sean Desai

Promoting Sean Desai to the Chicago Bears head coach could end up working.

The Chicago Bears hired Sean Desai to be their defensive coordinator ahead of the 2021 season. He replaced Chuck Pagano who replaced Vic Fangio. Each year, the defense started to get a little bit worse but it was always still pretty good. Desai did an okay job in his first year as he dealt with a bad head coach and a lot of injuries.

The offense was the reason that they were a bad football team in 2021. Desai’s defense was actually decent, especially towards the end of the season. Their final game against the Minnesota Vikings saw Matt Nagy drive them into the ground which wasn’t a good look but Desai is hardly to blame.

Desai is almost certainly going to at least be considered. He probably won’t get the job but he should be considered someone that can do the job someday. Nobody really mentioned him in a negative light during the 2021 season when it would have been easy to throw some blame his way.

Honestly, if they do hire someone else to be the head coach, that person should at least consider Desai t be their coordinator. Until that moment comes, however, Desai could be considered an under-the-radar candidate for an interview.
