The Chicago Bears should interview Todd Bowles for their head coach opening

Like Harbaugh, Todd Bowles offers the Bears head coaching experience and would bring a different dynamic to the team. Bowles is a well-respected coach in this league and has over 25 years of football coaching experience.

The Bears need discipline, and Bowles would certainly bring that to the table. His past head coaching experience comes as an interim for the Miami Dolphins and a short stint with the New York Jets, and neither situation was a good one for Bowles.

This situation would be excellent. Bowles is a defensive-minded guy who would walk into a situation where he has the league’s second-leading sack artist in Robert Quinn, plus a soon-to-be healthy Khalil Mack. He’d get one of the best linebackers in the game, Roquan Smith, plus a young, ascending cornerback Jaylon Johnson whom he could mold.

What about Fields, you might ask? Bowles is connected enough where he could bring in the right coordinator for his young quarterback. There would be no problem for Bowles in getting the right guys around his quarterback.

Coming from Tampa Bay where he’s worked with one of the league’s top run defenses and working with a nasty Arizona Cardinals defense in past years, Bowles could bring an element of toughness back to the Bears.

Once a candidate to come in as a defensive coordinator, Bowles may get an even bigger gig in Chicago now.
