Jim Harbaugh could bring in Vic Fangio as the Chicago Bears defensive coordinator

As of right now, odds are not good that Vic Fangio returns as the Denver Broncos head coach. If he gets fired in Denver, Fangio will likely return to the ranks of being a defensive coordinator — and boy, will he have plenty of interest.

Fangio is another coach that worked under Harbaugh back during his time with the 49ers. During Fangio’s stint with San Francisco, his defenses were as stingy as it gets — and we know from his time in Chicago just how good he is at coaching defenses.

There are some coaches out there who are simply better at being coordinators than they are at being a head coach. It’s not necessarily a knock on Fangio, because he is one of the best in the business and he’ll be able to coach in this league as long as he wants to.

Fangio and Harbaugh having worked together in the past, plus the fact that Fangio would know some of the faces in the building still, are two excellent reasons to bring him back. Fans would be thrilled. Players would be thrilled. The energy on defense would be back, instantly.
