Jim Harbaugh could bring in Greg Roman as the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator

This would be risky business, if you’re the Bears. But, it’s a possibility. Greg Roman worked under Harbaugh from 2011-2014 during their stint with San Francisco. Roman was responsible for helping develop Colin Kaepernick as a rookie and for the first four seasons of his career.

The similarities between Fields and Kaepernick, physically, are certainly there. Heck, the physical similarities between Fields and Lamar Jackson are there as well. All three are 6-foot-2 and above, build with muscular frames — with Fields being the strongest of all of them.

Roman has been with the Baltimore Ravens since 2017 and has served as their offensive coordinator since 2019, helping develop Jackson. Boasting a recent NFL MVP as one of the best examples in his coaching career would give Roman some leverage.

Now, as exciting as Jackson has been, the Ravens’ offense has also sputtered this year in key moments. There are a lot of Ravens fans out there who would love to see him fired — which doesn’t exactly speak volumes about how he could come in and develop Fields.

But, Roman was also looked at as a head coaching candidate at one point. If the Ravens parted ways with him, he’d likely want another shot to prove he can be a head coach. What better situation to prove that then with Fields and under an old friend in Harbaugh?
