The Chicago Blackhawks could go shopping for draft picks at the deadline too.

The 2022 and 2023 NHL Drafts are expected to be very deep. As a result, it is assumed that a few gems will come out of the later rounds as well. The Boston Bruins don’t typically draft very high because they win a lot so stocking up on a few of them in those drafts might be a good idea.

They also might not be able to land more than that for DeBrusk if this goes on any longer without any results. The Blackhawks might be willing to part ways with one of those picks in order to land someone like DeBrusk. Some good things could come from a move like that if it happened.

The Blackhawks have a few extra third-round picks in this upcoming 2022 draft to play with anyway. They have the one that belonged to the Toronto Maple Leafs originally but it was given to them by the Calgary Flames in exchange for Nikita Zadorov. The Leafs gave it to Calgary a few months prior in exchange for goaltender David Rittich.

DeBrusk would be well worth the assets because he could help the team score more. If he could find that magic that he once had in a brand new organization, it should surprise nobody. It happens all the time around the league and there is no reason that it wouldn’t here either.

It could even help get Jonathan Toews or Patrick Kane going a little bit more as well. There are many good reasons to consider a deal like this but getting the team some more production should always be the main reason.
