Chris Godwin would come at a discount for the Chicago Bears

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a weird spot with their receiving core. After this season, Chris Godwin will enter free agency, but he very well could choose to take a discount and come back to play with Tom Brady.

While that’s in the realm of possibilities, the Bucs also have some young talent they could choose to try and get more snaps in Godwin’s place. Tyler Johnson is a candidate to break out, while Jaelon Darden has the speed to kill. Both are young and could be nice fill-ins for Godwin’s targets.

The one thing throwing a wrench in all of this is the antics from former Bucs wideout Antonio Brown. What he pulled this past week was a selfish, immature move that likely ends his NFL career. It also puts the Bucs in a hard spot down two of their top three receivers for the remainder of the year.

This could cause the Bucs to focus in on getting Godwin back. But, if Godwin doesn’t get a multi-year offer from the Bucs, maybe the Bears throw some money at him and offer him more security in Chicago.
