2. The current state of the Chicago Bears is all about Justin Fields’ development
Earlier this week, Bears fans heard some news that suddenly made this game a whole lot more watchable. Rookie quarterback Justin Fields was cleared to make his return after suffering cracked ribs and will indeed take on the Packers in prime time.
If you’re like a lot of Bears fans, the remainder of this season has become all about Fields. At 4-8, you can grasp to that string of blind hope knowing that Chicago is mathematically still in it. Or, you can face reality and understand that the Bears are headed nowhere this season.
It is much easier to accept the facts when the focus is on Fields. This season is not going to result in a playoff berth, so the fans might as well sit back and enjoy watching Fields develop.
Even if the Bears get beat handedly, Fields could have a good game or even just a few bright spots that allow fans to be thankful for the future. If Fields is under center, we should all be watching.
