The Chicago Blackhawks are in a very interesting spot. They played very well on the east coast over the weekend. With wins over the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders, they took four out of six points (there was a loss to the New York Rangers). Things have been really nice for them ever since they fired Jeremy Colliton.

They have a very good record since hiring Derek King as the interim head coach but they have barely made up any ground on the playoff race. If they want to take that stride, they might turn from sellers to buyers in certain situations. A young player on the trade block that could fit into the future plans is a good target.

Jake DeBrusk fits that mold of a good young player that might get moved. The Boston Bruins play him a fair amount but his healthy scratching lately has been notable. It is clear that he needs a change of scenery after a few down years in Boston. Early in his career, he looked like he was going to be an amazing player but has since fallen off a bit.

DeBrusk has made a trade request but still remains a member of the Boston Bruins. There is no timeline for a potential trade but there are going to be teams that consider it. He would be a great fit on the Chicago Blackhawks as they try to climb out of this hole.

The Chicago Blackhawks would be better with a forward like Jake DeBrusk.

DeBrusk is a winger that, when playing well, is known to score some goals. If he was placed in a situation where he felt comfortable, he might be able to take his game to the next level. He had a brilliant rookie year with Boston and was good for a few years but has been struggling lately.

At 25 years young, he has a lot of great hockey yet to go. There is even a chance that some of his best play is ahead of him as he enters his true physical prime. In 264 games played, he has 71 goals and 70 assists for 141 points. That is decent production but we all know he can be better.

If he was able to play on a line with someone like Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, or Kirby Dach, he might be able to find his game again. There are plenty of good forwards that the Blackhawks can send over to Boston to get DeBrusk if they really wanted to get him. If they are serious about making a comeback in the standings, this is a move to consider.
