Chicago Blackhawks: DeBrincat and Kane are magical in OT
The statistics say that you have a significantly better chance of making it to the postseason if you are in a playoff spot by American Thanksgiving. At 6-11-2, the Chicago Blackhawks were nowhere near a playoff spot. In fact, they were closer to the basement of the Western Conference than the playoff line.
Their post-Thanksgiving portion of their schedule kicked off on Friday and it went very well for them. They went down 2-0 to the St. Louis Blues but they did not give up after that. They battled all the way back to get things tied at two before the game was over. They went into overtime hoping to claim that second point after battling hard to earn at least one.
In overtime is where Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane seem to have some extra magic. Of course, they are brilliant in regulation as well but they have shown time and time again that they can help their team win in the biggest moments.
Against the Blues, they came in and made an awesome play to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 overtime victory. The goal was scored by Alex DeBrincat after Patrick Kane made a sweet pass to feed him. Seth Jones also collected an assist on the play. Three USA Olympic hopefuls all chipped in on the Chicago game-winner.

The Chicago Blackhawks won in overtime thanks to a very good play.
This was an awesome way for the Hawks to get their post-Thanksgiving schedule underway as they took two points. It came against a good Blues team and they should feel good about it. Things have been really good since the coaching change as they have only lost to Calgary and Edmonton who are Stanley Cup contenders.
With a lot of hockey left to play, the Hawks just need to take it one game at a time. It might not be likely that they come all the way back but anything is possible. There are great players on this team playing in front of great goaltenders. If they are able to win two out of every three games, they might be able to make a run.
Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane are going to make a lot of plays together. They are each so smart and so skilled so seeing them come in on a two-on-one is exciting for the Hawks and bad news for the opposition. It would be nice to see them win a lot more with these two leading the way. They are back in action on Sunday at home against the San Jose Sharks.
